ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH (TUCKAHOE), YONKERS, NY
Picture
St. Augustine said that to sing is to pray twice. We agree.

The congregation is invited to sing the hymns during the service. The music is found in the blue hymnal in the pew rack or the green paperback hymn book (Wonder, Love and Praise or WLP) found at the end of each pew. Hymn numbers are indicated on the hymn board at the front of the church. “Service Music” or sung parts of the liturgy that are repeated on a weekly basis are noted in the worship leaflet with the letter “S” in front of the number (found at the beginning of the hymnal) or printed on a music insert. Additionally, the choir or a soloist offers an anthem about midway through the service, where the congregation is invited to sit and listen.

We are always looking for people who like to sing, so if you’d like to join the choir, we’d love to welcome you into our midst. We sing each Sunday, except during the summer, and rehearse one evening a week.

Our choir is directed by Ann Patton, our gifted Organist and Choir Director. She is an excellent musician, a pastoral choir leader and stellar teacher for students of all ages. Ann invites all who are interested in the choir to contact her through the church office at: theparishoffice@aol.com.

Private piano lessons, in person or on Zoom, are offered through our church as well. Email the office to find out more.
